About Me
Nancy Matis Dreyfuss is a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children ages 2 through 18 years. She is licensed in New York State and holds the permanent Teacher of the Speech and Heading Handicapped Certificate. She is a lifetime member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a member of the American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology and Audiology (AAPPSPA). She has been recognized with multiple continuing education awards by ASHA.
Nancy received her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1978, following her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University in 1976. She has been working with preschool and elementary school children for over 40 years in both medical and educational programs. She has been a consultant at Merricat’s Castle School, an inclusionary preschool in Manhattan, for over 30 years. She has provided services through the Early Intervention Program in New York State, as well as the Department of Education’s Committee for Preschool Special Education and Committee for Special Education.
Nancy established her own private practice with office-based and home-based sessions in 1996. She currently works with children aged 2 to 18 years. Her clinical interests include early language development, language intervention, phonological and articulation delays, early literacy, executive function, social language, behavior management, and narrative and writing skills. Nancy’s clinical experiences include certification as a provider of the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk Program, training in the PROMPT method, and workshops in both executive function methods by Sarah Ward and in the SocialThinking™ curriculum (though she is not affiliated with either program).
She is a native New Yorker, currently residing on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
